安阳有着悠久的对外贸易历史，早在三千多年前的商朝，自盤庚迁都于殷，就和朝鲜等国有着丝绸、瓷器、花椒等商品贸易往来。1915年，安阳的棉纱、焦炭、蚕茧等25种商品，荣登在美国旧金山举行的“巴拿马万国博览会”。
改革开放以来，安阳市政府着力改善投资环境，加快了交通、能源、通讯和市政公用基础设施建设，制定了一系列鼓励外商投资的优惠政策，进一步简化了办事程序，提高了办事效率，逐步构建起适合国际惯例的投资环境，有力地促进了我市对外贸易和经济、技术的交流与合作。目前安阳市已与美、英、德、法、日、意、加拿大、俄罗斯、比利时、瑞士、韩国、新加坡、阿尔及利亚、港澳台等十几个国家和地区建立了经济、科技和文化合作关系，和比利时、日本的一些城市建立了友好城市关系。全市有24大类100多个品种的产品进入国际市场，年出口总值2亿多美元。现有158家自营进出口企业，涌现出年进出口额超过1亿美元的国家重点出口企业安阳彩色玻壳集团公司和省重点出口企业安钢集团、安阳电池厂、安阳紫阳纺织品有限公司等，以及玻壳、钢铁、纺织、电池、自行车、医药等名牌出口商品。随着安阳与世界经济联系日益广泛和紧密，吸引了不少有远见的客商来安阳发展，投资规模在不断扩大。截止目前，兴办外商投资企业187家，合同外资金额33593万美元，实际吸引外商直接投资24780万美元，引进国外先进技术120多项。承办了20多项对外经济援助和国外工程技术承包项目。累计外派劳务2600多人次。安阳市全方位、多层次、多渠道对外开放格局正在逐步形成。
Anyang has a long history of foreign trade. In the Shang Dynasty 3000 years ago since Pan Geng moved the capital to Yin, Anyang started its trade of silk, porcelain, Chinese prickly ash and etc. with Korea and other countries. In 1915, 25 kinds of commodities like cotton yarn, coke and silk warm cocoon were shown at "Panama World Expo" held in San Francisco, the USA.
Since carrying out the policy of reformation and opening to the world, Anyang municipality has exerted herself to improve the investment surroundings, such as speeding up the construction of traffic, transportation, energy, telecommunication and municipal public facilities, formulating a series of preferencial policies for encouraging foreign investment, simplifying work procedure and raising work efficiency, making up social service system as per international practice step by step, that has given strong promotion to Anyang's foreign economic relations and trade, technical exchange and cooperation. Now Anyang has established cooperative relations successively with US, Britain, Germany, France, Japan, Italy, Canada, Russia, Belgium, Switzerland, South Korea, Singapore, Algeria, Hong Kong and Macao etc. in the fields of economic relations, trade, culture, science and technology. She has tied as some friendship cities from Belgium and Japan. We have well sales more than one hundred commodities of twenty-four varieties into the international market. The total value of export & import yearly reaches to 200 millions US dollars. Now We have 158 export & import enterprises, of which Anyang Color Picture Tube Bulb Group Co., Ltd is one of the important enterprises of the State, also there are several important enterprises of our province, such as Anyang Iron and Steel Group, Anyang Battery Factory, Anyang Ziyang Textiles Co.Ltd. etc. For export products, we are proud to have the famous commodities such as battery, textiles, bicycle, medicine and color TV tube glass bulb. Accompanying increasingly inseparable connections between Anyang & world in the economic fields, a lot of foresighted investors come to set up enterprises in Anyang one after another, with expanding investment scale year after year. Up to now, more than 187 foreign invested enterprises have been established in Anyang, the total contract foreign investment reaches 33.593 million US dollars and the actual use of foreign investment of 24.78 million US dollars. We have introduced more than 120 items of advanced technology from abroad and undertaken about 20 technical engineering and technical contract projects. Till now the total abroad labor sending from Anyang has been over 2600 persons. The overall and multi-channel opening pattern at many levels have being formed gradually in Anyang.
